Myanmar Challengers Return!
Seventeen weary cyclists have just returned from a twelve day cycling challenge in Myanmar raising funds for cardiac services at Epworth.
The itinerary included cycling 310km on undulating roads and tracks from Mandalay, up Mt Popa and through to Bagan in 35 degree heat. Highlights included a picnic lunch in the gardens of a monastery, boat ride down the Irrawaddy River and several magnificent sunsets over the dry season horizon.
Participants ranged in age from 31 to 78 and included five former cardiac patients, HeartSmart coordinator Nanci Thurston and cardiologist Rob Gelder.
